Year 4 trip to Dunraven Bay, Southerndown on 20th March 2015.

We're off! We couldn't have wished for a more beautiful day. We met our rangers Alex and Helen and we'd already seen what damage the wind and sea can do.The stone wall on the left was partially demolished in the storms.

Into the walled garden where Helen explained why water is so important in the garden.

Can you find Eve?

We were good at answering questions and even better at posing for photos!

Alex and Helen taught us a lot about the history of the gardens and their
                                            work as wardens.

 Where to next?

                                             An amazing view!
Look at the wave cut platform which shows where the cliffs once were. But they have been eroded by the weather and waves.

Back we go .
It must be time for lunch by now!

Helen told us about some of the fossils we might be lucky                  lucky enough to find.

                                         Our own private beach!

Now for some exploring . What can we find?

                                               Lots of starfish

We're all having a great time

Helen told us more about the layers of rocks, mostly limestone and shale. We could see lots of signs of erosion and we stayed well clear of the rocks!

And then we found a crab!

We loved going in the pools in our wellies.
Who's going to get wet trousers?

And now it's time for some long jump practice.

                                                  Time for a run

Then came the fossil hunting

A spot of sunbathing for Daisy!

And then it was time to go home.........

Thanks to every one that helped on our trip. We had a great time and all the children behaved perfectly. A big thankyou to the rangers Helen and Alex.
                                           It was a perfect day!
